VP Sara Duterte delays reply to Senate summons, in Australia

Vice President Sara Duterte has not yet submitted her reply to the Senate impeachment court's summons issued on June 10.

Duterte said that the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will be submitting its response within the required period, as she is in Australia preparing for an upcoming rally supporting her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

She confirmed during an interview in Melbourne that her team of lawyers are preparing a reply to the Ombudsman's order regarding alleged misuse of confidential funds and will submit it within 10 days from receipt on June 20.

The vice president must file her counter-affidavit, along with affidavits of witnesses and supporting documents, by June 30 as per the Ombudsman’s directive.

Duterte reiterated that she has been preparing for the impeachment complaints against her since November 2023, hiring lawyers to answer the charges.
