VP Sara doubts midterm election results, cites IT experts

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed doubts about the results of the recent midterm elections during Philippine Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.

Duterte claimed that candidates from her party's senatorial slate, including Jayvee Villanueva Hinlo Jr., Jimmy Bondoc, and Richard Mata, should have won Senate seats based on consultations with IT experts.

She urged PDP Laban to question the election process after consulting unnamed IT experts who raised concerns about the reported results.

Duterte cited her experience in the 2022 elections as evidence of discrepancies, noting that she learned she might win the vice presidency from early absentee and overseas voter counts.

Commission on Elections Chairperson George Garcia declined to comment on Duterte's allegations but stated that expressing opinions is a democratic right.

The Palace dismissed Duterte's claims as 'wishful thinking,' stating that her allies should respect the election results rather than maligning them.
