Cynthia Villar eyes mayor or congress post in Las Piñas

Outgoing Senator Cynthia Villar has declared her intention to run for either mayor or a congressional seat in Las Piñas City ahead of the 2025 elections.

During an interview, Villar mentioned that she is considering running against her niece, incumbent Vice Mayor April Aguilar, but also noted that her husband, former Senate President Manny Villar, wants her to return to Congress as their daughter Camille Villar will run for the Senate.

Villar emphasized that while she is constitutionally barred from seeking re-election to her Senate seat, she aims to decide on which post to vie for by October when certificates of candidacy are filed.

She highlighted her desire to continue environmental advocacies in Las Piñas, including a farm school, river rehabilitation program, the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, and a drug rehabilitation center.

Despite her husband's preference, Villar said she will make a decision based on what is best for Las Piñas and its residents.
