Vietnamese woman arrested for unruly behavior, Chinese man for investment scam detained

Immigration officers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport arrested a Vietnamese woman for unruly behavior on Monday and another incident involving a different Vietnamese woman who walked naked around the airport last month.

Ban Thi Van, 19, caused a disturbance by aggressively taking her passport from an officer, shouting, and lying on the floor during immigration clearance procedures at Terminal 3.

She also live-streamed her outburst on social media, leading to intervention by BI's border control unit, airport police, and PNP aviation security group.

After being pacified, Ban was brought to the BI head office for inquest proceedings and later transferred to a facility at Camp Bagong Diwa pending deportation.

Separately, BI officers arrested Chen Xiao Bang, a Chinese man wanted for economic crimes involving an investment scam that defrauded investors of over 3 million Chinese yuan since 2018.

Chen was ordered deported last year by the Bureau of Immigration and is now detained at the BI detention facility in Bagong Diwa pending deportation.
