Vietnamese nationals arrested for illegal medicine practice in Makati

Two Vietnamese nationals were arrested in Makati City for allegedly practicing medicine without proper licenses, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

The suspects, Nguyen, a 25-year-old female, and Phuong, a 37-year-old male, were apprehended during an entrapment operation at the Doly Beauty Lounge in Bel-Air, Makati City on Monday.

CIDG-NCR chief Col. Marlon Quimno said the suspects conducted medical consultations and provided quotations for cosmetic procedures such as nose augmentation and body modification despite lacking permits or licenses from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The operation was launched following a complaint from a client who claimed that Nguyen and Phuong performed a nose lift and administered Korean fillers for P22,000 but with unsatisfactory results.

Acting CIDG Director Brig. Gen. Rolindo Suguilon emphasized that illegal medical practice poses a serious threat to public health and safety, encouraging the public to report any such activities.

CIDG Quezon City District field unit is commended for their quick response in addressing this issue.

The suspects are now facing charges under Republic Act 2382, also known as the Medical Act of 1959.
