VP Sara Duterte skips NBI subpoena, Ortera calls it act of arrogance

Vice President Sara Duterte has not appeared at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) following a subpoena, raising questions about her compliance with legal procedures.

House Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega criticized Duterte for disregarding the subpoena, calling it an act of arrogance and an insult to ordinary citizens who follow the law.

Assistant House Majority Leader Jay Khonghun said Duterte's non-appearance sets a dangerous precedent, suggesting that public officials can act above the law while ordinary citizens are expected to comply.

Khonghun warned that high-ranking officials failing to follow the law undermines public trust in government institutions and urged Filipinos to remain vigilant in upholding the rule of law.

The House Good Government and Public Accountability committee postponed a scheduled hearing to avoid overlapping with the NBI's investigation, despite Duterte's request for rescheduling her appearance at the bureau.
