Duterte rejects AFP, PNP security replacements

Vice President Sara Duterte announced that she will not accept security replacements from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) due to trust issues.

Despite her refusal, AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Padilla assured that they will continue to protect top leaders including the Vice President as part of their mandate under the Presidential Security Command.

The AFP is committed to fulfilling its mission to ensure the safety and security of ranking government officials, regardless of Duterte's decision.

Padilla stated that operational details on how this protection will ensue would not be disclosed but emphasized that the security of the Vice President will not be compromised.

Meanwhile, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said they respect the Vice President’s decision and will follow instructions from the Presidential Security Command regarding her safety.
