Vic Sotto testifies in cyber libel case vs Darryl Yap

Actor-host Vic Sotto testified before a Muntinlupa court on Tuesday for his cyber libel case against director Darryl Yap.

Sotto's lawyer, Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz, told GMA News Online that the testimony focused on proving malice by Yap in making Sotto appear as someone who raped Pepsi Paloma.

The dispute arose from a teaser of Yap's upcoming film 'The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma,' where the character portrayed by Gina Alajar asked if Paloma was raped by Vic Sotto, to which she replied 'yes.'

Sotto stated in his affidavit that an earlier draft of the movie cut this scene short.

Yap previously testified that the full movie would not name Sotto as one of the rapists and that it was merely a publicity stunt.

The case involves charges under Article 353 and 355 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Yap has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the next hearing is scheduled for September 9.
