Mary Jane Veloso's sister returns amid abuse claims, DMW provides aid

The sister of Filipino death row drug convict Mary Jane Veloso, Maritess, returned to the Philippines following alleged sexual abuse in Saudi Arabia.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac met with Veloso's parents on Monday evening and provided financial assistance upon her return on November 29.

Cacdac assured the family that additional support would be given for home improvement, as well as inquiries made with the Department of Foreign Affairs regarding a possible compassionate visit to Mary Jane in Indonesia.

Maritess received financial assistance from DMW upon her arrival and will also receive medical assistance from the OFW Hospital in Pampanga province, especially for her grandchild who was born with a blood infection.

Cacdac said that both the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Justice are working on Mary Jane's possible transfer to the Philippines from Indonesia.
