Van crash on Central Luzon Expressway kills 5, injures 9

Five passengers died and nine others were injured when a closed van they were riding hit a fence along the Central Luzon Link Expressway in Tarlac.

The van driver, who was among the injured, said he lost control of the steering wheel before crashing into the metal fence.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Ranier Mercado, the vehicle was traveling at speeds between 80 to 100 kilometers per hour at the time of the crash.

The victims were workers from Caloocan City heading to Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija for work.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, with no comments yet from the victims or their families.
