UST, UAAP adjust Season 88 calendar for intl. tournaments

University of Santo Tomas and the UAAP are preparing to adjust Season 88's calendar to accommodate student-athletes' participation in upcoming international tournaments, with UST planning to host the league’s opening week on its campus.

The Philippines will host the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship in September, while athletes from UAAP schools will compete in the Asian Women's U16 Volleyball Championship in Jordan and the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand later this year.

UAAP Season 88 President Fr. Rodel Cansancio said the league is ready to make scheduling changes if called upon by national teams for these events, particularly for the SEA Games.

UST will host basketball games at its Quadricentennial Pavilion Arena and use university grounds for the opening ceremony in the third week of September.

Limited availability of usual venues during September due to the FIVB World Championship is prompting UST to explore alternative options for UAAP basketball.
