US-born Pope Leo XIV, former Cebu visitor, elected

Former Father Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, visited Cebu multiple times, most notably in 2004 and 2008 to bless the Santo Niño de Cebu Parish friary and Spirituality Center.

Reverend Father Jonas Mejares of the Order of St. Augustine reminisced about Pope Leo XIV's past visits, noting his leadership qualities even as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost.
