71% view UP as top Philippine university

A recent OCTA Research survey indicates that 71% of Filipino adults view the University of the Philippines (UP) as the top university in the country.

The poll, conducted from November 10 to 16, 2024, found UP to be the preferred choice across all demographic categories except for the Negros Island Region, where De La Salle University led by eight percentage points.

De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University followed with 15% and 14% respectively in the survey of 1,200 adult respondents.

Among those aged 18 to 24, 26 percent believe that De La Salle University is the best university, while for those aged 55 to 64, UP has a preference rate of up to 79%.

The QS World University Rankings released in June also ranked UP as the top university in the Philippines, improving to 336th from 404th the previous year.

Ateneo de Manila University rose to 516th place, and De La Salle University climbed to 641-650, both showing improvements over their prior rankings.
