UP calls for justice in Sophia Coquilla's murder

The University of the Philippines (UP) has called for justice for Sophia Coquilla, a 19-year-old student who was robbed and killed during her vacation in Tagum City.

UP condemned the 'senseless' murder of Coquilla on July 9, emphasizing the importance of protecting citizens' lives and rights.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough investigation into the crime; three underage suspects have been arrested while another suspect remains at large.

Sophia's body was found with 38 stab wounds; her room had been ransacked and several items stolen, including a laptop computer, cell phone, tablet, and watch.

The university offered psychosocial services to those affected by the tragedy and urged swift action from law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.

Davao del Norte Police Provincial Director Colonel Alexander Serrano Jr. assured that a thorough investigation will be launched to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
