Solon seeks inquiry on DOH's failure to release health worker benefits

Marikina City Representative Stella Quimbo filed a resolution seeking an inquiry into the alleged failure of the DOH to release benefits and allowances for private medical workers.

The resolution aims to ensure that P13.5 billion pesos allocated under Bayanihan 2 reaches eligible healthcare workers.

State auditors flagged the DOH over deficiencies in utilizing COVID-19 funds, with P11.89 billion remaining unobligated as of December 31 last year.

Quimbo emphasized the need for accountability and immediate payment of benefits to frontliners.

Senator Richard Gordon also called for health workers to receive active hazard duty pay and special risk allowance promised by the government.
