University of Batangas wins 3x3 crown, defies fourth seed

University of Batangas secured their first championship title in the 2nd UCAL-PGFLEX 3x3 Championship on Thursday, May 8, defeating Philippine Women's University with a score of 21-16.

Ranked fourth after the elimination rounds, UB relied on James Torrato's performance to upset PWU and claim their victory.

The win gives UB additional motivation for their regular 5x5 tournament where they have fallen short in previous seasons.

Philippine Women's University's runner-up finish was particularly significant as they had lost all their games during the elimination rounds.

UB advanced to the finals by defeating top-seeded Centro Escolar University, while PWU secured their place with a victory over Manila Central University.
