UK aims to double trade with PH over 3-4 years

UK Trade Envoy George Freeman MP aims to double bilateral trade with the Philippines over the next three to four years by identifying strategic projects and partnerships.

During a roundtable discussion on Friday, Freeman highlighted potential growth areas including cybersecurity, health technology, clinical trials, vaccines, and food exports such as bananas, coconuts, dried fruits, and artisanal fashion items.

The UK mission noted high export potential for Philippine products like banana, coconut products, dried fruits, and artisanal fashion items.

Freeman emphasized the importance of deepening partnerships beyond transactional trade to address security concerns in a dangerous world.

The Philippines currently has a trade surplus with the UK, exporting around £1.8 billion worth of goods last year, while total trade reached £3.0 billion in 2024.
