Nika and Ofel affect 85K families in 5 regions

Severe Tropical Storms Nika (Toraji) and Ofel (Usagi) have affected about 85,415 families across five regions in the Philippines, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The affected families, totaling 309,518 individuals, are located in 1,189 barangays within Regions I, II, III, V, and CAR.

As of Thursday, approximately 26,923 individuals are being assisted inside 367 evacuation centers, while another 19,572 persons are receiving aid outside these centers.

No casualties have been confirmed, but the NDRRMC is validating reports that two persons were injured in Central Luzon due to the storms.

The combined impact of both storms has led to damage to 2,394 houses and infrastructure damage estimated at PHP320.65 million in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera.
