5 reported dead, over 317K affected by TC Julian

Five people were reported dead in the Philippines due to Tropical Cyclone Julian, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday.

Four fatalities occurred in the Ilocos Region while one was reported in Cagayan Valley; only two deaths have been confirmed as of now.

A total of 317,671 individuals or 97,871 families were affected by Tropical Cyclone Julian across various regions, with significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture worth over P1.3 billion.

The storm caused extensive damage to homes, disrupted essential services like power and water supply, and stranded numerous passengers and vessels in seaports.

State of calamity was declared in Ilocos Norte and Batanes due to the severe impact of Tropical Cyclone Julian, which also led to 320 school suspensions and work schedule adjustments in 111 areas.
