Court convicts kidnappers of Batangas businessman

A Batangas court has convicted Francisco Quiamco and Rammel Relos of kidnapping businessman Teoderico Ozaeta, according to an announcement by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday.

The men were sentenced to 40 years imprisonment without parole eligibility for their crime committed in Lipa City on July 24, 2015.

Quiamco and Relos abducted Ozaeta from a supermarket in Batangas City and demanded P30 million ransom for his release.

NBI operatives conducted surveillance and rescued the victim along with apprehending the perpetrators on July 30, 2015, after receiving a complaint from the victim's family.
