2 die, 14 hurt in firecracker incidents in Cebu

Two individuals died and 14 were injured in separate firecracker-related incidents during New Year's Eve celebrations in Cebu province.

Cyril John Remis, a 23-year-old vlogger from Asturias, was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital after a firework explosion near his chest.

In Talisay City, a 10-year-old boy died while three others were injured in a 'Goodbye Philippines' firecracker explosion during festivities.

The Central Visayas Police Regional Office recorded the incidents and launched an investigation to determine responsibility for the use of banned fireworks despite strict regulations.

Additionally, two stray bullets were monitored in Central Visayas: one in Tisa, Cebu City, where a victim sustained a minor wound, and another in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, where no one was hit.
