Three arrested for robbing man accused of drug activities

Two police officers from Caloocan City and a civilian were arrested in Quezon City on Monday afternoon for allegedly robbing Gerald Andrade, whom they accused of illegal drug activities.

Staff Sgt. Russell Ortega, Cpl. Joel Taboga, both from the Caloocan Police Station, along with their accomplice Robin Caidic, were apprehended by Talipapa Police Station officers in front of Barangay Balon Bato Hall around 4:40 p.m.

The arrest occurred after CIDU operatives reviewed CCTV footage for a homicide case and noticed the suspects running after Andrade.

CIDU promptly responded to the scene where they found no legal documentation supporting the police operation, leading to the arrests.

Andrade claimed he was riding his motorcycle when the suspects blocked him, took his wallet containing around PHP16,000 in cash, and chased him until the barangay hall.

The three arrested individuals and Andrade were brought to CIDU with the confiscated motorcycle and cash, while authorities are tracking down four other police officers for possible involvement.
