Third body recovered from capsized MV Hong Hai 16, four crew still missing

A third body has been recovered from inside the capsized MV Hong Hai 16 in Rizal, Occidental Mindoro on Saturday.

The recovery was made at approximately 3:56 p.m. from the vessel's accommodation area during ongoing joint diving operations.

With this latest recovery, four crew members remain missing as search efforts continue under challenging conditions such as low visibility and structural hazards within the sunken vessel.

Representatives of MV Hong Hai 16 owners Keen Peak Corporation visited the site earlier to offer assistance in salvage efforts and support for the deceased and surviving crew members.

The local government plans to suspend dredging operations by issuing a cease-and-desist order on Monday, emphasizing that it is a temporary measure.
