PAGASA warns of 4 potential tropical cyclones next week

Tropical Depression Nika, along with Tropical Storm Ofel and two other weather disturbances, could affect the country according to PAGASA.

The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a tropical depression named 'Ofel' and is expected to enter PAR on Tuesday morning.

PAGASA forecasts that Tropical Depression Ofel may intensify into a severe tropical storm within 48 hours, potentially making landfall over Northern or Central Luzon on Thursday evening or Friday early morning.

Another circulation may develop into an LPA and enter PAR next week, potentially named Pepito if it intensifies.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla warned of high landslide risks in mountainous areas of Regions I, II, and CAR due to ground saturation from recent storms.

Local government units are advised to implement mandatory evacuations across approximately 2,500 barangays in the affected regions as four tropical cyclones may enter the country within a span of ten days.
