Transmission costs rise due to ancillary services

Consumers will face higher transmission costs this month due to increased ancillary service rates, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The NGCP announced a P0.46 per kilowatt-hour charge for its services in July, reflecting a 5.49% increase from June's average rate.

Ancillary service rates rose by 9.32% to P0.6182 per kWh in June, contributing significantly to the overall transmission cost rise.

NGCP’s transmission wheeling rates increased by 0.39%, adding to the overall expense for consumers.

Starting August this year, NGCP will implement a decision from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) allowing it to collect P28.28 billion over seven years as part of its cost recovery efforts.
