Top seeds San Miguel, Ginebra face Meralco, Converge in PBA Philippine Cup quarters

The PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals kicked off with tight matchups between top seeds and lower-ranked teams on Wednesday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, with games continuing on Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Top seed San Miguel Beer faces No. 8 Meralco, while Barangay Ginebra takes on dangerous No. 5 Converge, both matches set for June 18 and 20.

San Miguel and Ginebra hold a twice-to-beat advantage over their respective opponents after lower-ranked teams Rain or Shine and TNT outplayed NLEX and Magnolia in the first round of games last Wednesday.

Winning teams advance to separate best-of-seven semifinals series, with San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra aiming to quickly dispose of Meralco and Converge respectively to secure their place in the Final Four.
