Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone remains optimistic about the team's chances to make it to the 2027 FIBA World Cup despite being drawn into a challenging group A with Australia, New Zealand, and Guam.

Cone emphasized that focusing on securing one of the seven spots available is more important than worrying about specific opponents.

He highlighted the significance of having Kai Sotto back in the lineup as crucial for competing against international powerhouses.

Cone expressed confidence that Sotto will be ready once the first window begins, possibly by October.

The qualifiers consist of two rounds played home and away, with seven teams qualifying alongside host Qatar.
