Teodoro: Bombing at MSU could have been prevented with police presence

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. stated on Friday that the bombing at Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City could have been prevented if police and military personnel were present on campus.

Teodoro emphasized that there was no failure of intelligence by the Philippine National Police (PNP) or the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), but rather a lack of appreciation for available intelligence.

He noted that MSU has its own security force, and PNP and AFP personnel are not allowed to enter without prior consent, which is similar to policies at other universities like UP.
