Taxi driver faces LTFRB over P3k short trip charge

A taxi driver in Davao City is facing complaints for allegedly charging two passengers nearly P3,000 for a short trip from Davao International Airport to DCOTT.

The couple's child posted about the incident on social media, leading to widespread criticism.

During the ride, one of the passengers noticed that the taximeter was running unusually fast and expressed concern to the driver, who reportedly responded with 'Wala akong magagawa, ganyan talaga 'yan' (There's nothing I can do, that's just how it works).

The taxi driver has since apologized, claiming he was confused about receiving three P1,000 bills instead of P100 bills.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI has summoned the driver to explain the situation and is currently investigating the incident.
