Elderly woman's bomb joke causes Tacloban flight delay

A domestic flight from Tacloban City airport was delayed on Friday after a senior citizen made a bomb joke, causing concern among authorities.

The elderly woman told a crew member her bag was heavy because it contained a bomb, prompting security measures and the passenger's detention by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group.

Caap confirmed that the incident occurred on flight PR 2988 and reported receiving information about the joke at 6:30 p.m.

Passengers were allowed to board the delayed flight at 8:05 p.m., with enhanced security measures in place.

The passenger, who was traveling alone, remains under custody for investigation.
