Taal Volcano experiences minor phreatic eruption

Taal Volcano experienced a minor phreatic eruption on Thursday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The eruption, which lasted from 9:18 p.m. to 9:22 p.m., generated a white plume reaching up to 1500 meters.

PHIVOLCS confirmed that the event was captured by the thermal camera at the Buco Observation Station in Talisay, Batangas.

This eruption follows another phreatic event on February 17, 2025, which lasted four minutes and produced plumes up to 2,100 meters tall with volcanic earthquakes.

Despite this activity, PHIVOLCS maintains that Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1, indicating it is in an abnormal but not immediately threatening condition.
