Strong rains, floods affect over 12K residents in Bulacan, Zamboanga; DSWD evacuates 3,700 families

Strong rains and floods caused by the southwest monsoon and low pressure area have affected over 12,940 residents in Bulacan and Zamboanga City.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has evacuated more than 1,200 families from Zamboanga City and around 2,500 families from Bulacan due to the severe weather conditions.

Over 8,600 individuals in Bulacan and 4,340 individuals in Zamboanga City have been impacted by these weather conditions, with 65 houses damaged: 64 in Zamboanga City and one in Bulacan.

The DSWD has provided initial assistance worth P549,000 in food and non-food items to the affected residents.

DSWD spokesperson Asec Irene Dumlao stated that further aid will be continuously coordinated with local government units upon request.

Over 23,000 families or more than 92,000 individuals across Regions 6 and 7 have been impacted by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, with around 7,800 people still in evacuation centers.
