BSP: Too early for COVID-19 exit strategy

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno said it is too early for the central bank to unwind accommodative measures implemented during the pandemic.

Diokno emphasized that 2021 will be a recovery year and the economy may not return to its pre-pandemic levels until the second half of 2022.

The BSP governor stressed the need to maintain monetary policy accommodations while remaining vigilant against threats to price and financial stability.
