SPD arrests 3, incl police officer, in illegal firearms op

Three suspects, including a police officer, were arrested by the Southern Police District (SPD) in an entrapment operation on Tuesday along Acacia Street, Cembo, Taguig City.

The arrest was based on information from a regular confidential informant who reported their illegal activities in Makati City and Taguig City.

Authorities seized two firearms: an M16 rifle with Armed Forces of the Philippines markings and a Glock pistol, as well as other ammunition and paraphernalia used during the transaction.

Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete stated that the suspects had been monitored for weeks before the operation was conducted.

The SPD assured that all suspects would face accountability, and investigators are working to determine the source of the seized weapons while preparing charges under Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms.
