Manila South Harbor opens 211-bed COVID-19 isolation facility

A 211-bed isolation facility for COVID-19 patients opened at Manila South Harbor on Thursday, originally intended for repatriated seafarers and overseas Filipino workers.

The facility now houses asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients to ease hospital congestion in Metro Manila.

It is divided into four sections with a 55-bed capacity isolation ward for patients, staffed by 21 health personnel including doctors and nurses.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III emphasized the importance of referring appropriate patients to avoid overwhelming hospitals.
