Vic Sotto, Darryl Yap appear in court over 'The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma'

Screen veteran Vic Sotto and filmmaker Darryl Yap appeared before Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 for the first hearing of Sotto's petition for writ of habeas data against Yap's film 'The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma', which allegedly implicates Sotto in an assault case from the late 1980s.

Both declined to comment due to a court-issued gag order.

The court also denied Yap’s motion to consolidate cases, deeming them distinct; one is a civil petition for habeas data and another is a criminal complaint of cyberlibel.

Sotto seeks removal of all promotional materials and prohibition of further dissemination while Yap maintains the right to proceed with his film production.
