Sotto wins 5th term as senator with over 14.8M votes

Veteran politician Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III won a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections, securing the eighth spot on the administration slate Alyansa.

On Sunday, May 19, the Commission on Elections proclaimed Sotto after he received over 14.8 million votes, making him the first senator to be elected for five terms.

Sotto took pride in his fifth term and highlighted that he has authored 259 laws, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring proper government spending.

He expressed willingness to accept the position of Senate President if there are enough colleagues who would support him, requiring 13 votes from the upper chamber.

Other senators-elect with multiple terms proclaimed by the poll body on Saturday afternoon include Panfilo Lacson and Lito Lapid.
