Solo parents get free train rides April 20

Solo parents can enjoy free train rides on Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) during specific hours on Saturday, April 20, to mark National Solo Parents' Day.

To avail of the free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., solo parents must show their Solo Parent's Identification Card or Solo Parent Certificate of Eligibility at train station personnel on both LRT-2 and MRT-3.

Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways at MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino stated that they salute the solo parents who sacrifice their lives for their children, aiming to bring joy during this special day.

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) emphasized that these free rides aim to inspire single parents who support their families on their own.

Republic Act No. 11861, also known as the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, designates every third week and third Saturday of April as Solo Parents Week and National Solo Parents' Day.
