SMC delays Bulacan airport to Q1 2028, MRT-7 to 2028

San Miguel Corp.'s (SMC) President Ramon S. Ang announced further delays for both the Bulacan International Airport's opening until Q1 2028 and the completion of MRT-7 to 2028, due to construction challenges.

The suspension of Manila Bay reclamation projects by the government has resulted in delays at Bulacan International Airport and MRT-7, pushing back their completion dates.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista reassured that SMC is committed to developing NMIA 'at full blast' alongside its rehabilitation efforts for NAIA, despite fears of construction slowing down.

Local issues such as the alignment and location of the San Jose del Monte Station have further delayed MRT-7's completion date to 2028, with partial operations expected in 2025.
