Tropical Storms Ferdie, Gener kill at least 6, injure 11

At least six people died and eleven were injured due to the combined effects of Tropical Storms Ferdie and Gener as well as the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) in the Philippines.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed four fatalities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), two in Zamboanga Peninsula, nine injured in BARMM, and two missing across multiple regions.

A total of 86,140 families or 337,506 individuals were affected across regions including Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao region, Caraga, and BARMM.

Of the affected population, 9,665 families or 33,233 individuals are being aided in 409 evacuation centers, while another 6,835 families or 29,125 persons receive assistance outside these centers.

Some 209 houses were damaged across six regions as the weather agency continues to monitor a new low-pressure area east of Luzon and cloud clusters outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
