Senators file priority bills for 20th Congress

Several senators have begun filing their priority bills and resolutions for the upcoming 20th Congress.

Senator Loren Legarda led with her top bill, the One Tablet, One Student Act, followed by measures addressing digital access, small business support, climate action, and social protection for vulnerable sectors.

Legarda's priorities also include the Living Wage Act to ensure fair compensation for workers, as well as initiatives to protect unpaid care workers, waste workers, women, children, seniors, and informal workers.

Other key proposals are the Magna Carta of Waste Workers, Low Carbon Economy Act, Blue Economy Act, Monthly Maintenance Medication Support for Senior Citizens Act, Women and Children Protection Units Act, and Complementarity in Education Act to strengthen public-private collaboration in education.

Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero focused on transparency in government finances and lowering teachers' retirement age, while Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada proposed a monthly stipend for seniors and disaster resilience initiatives.

Robin Padilla's priorities included legalizing divorce, medicalizing cannabis use, and banning political dynasties.
