Poe condemns Tiktok dog shooting, calls for stiffer animal welfare laws

Senator Grace Poe strongly condemned what she called a 'barbaric act' against Tiktok, a dog from Negros Occidental who was shot multiple times with arrows.

Poe expressed outrage at the cruelty and questioned whether such behavior could escalate to violence against humans in the future.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation reported that Tiktok is currently receiving treatment after being rescued by Bach Project; the reward for identifying those responsible has now reached P300,000.

Veterinarian Aaron Pabalan said Tiktok suffered severe wounds and needs therapy to restore mobility in its left leg.

Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito contributed P15,000 to the reward fund, bringing the total offered by various sources to P300,000.

Poe urged residents and local government units in the area to cooperate with animal welfare groups to find the perpetrators.

She also called for passing a revised Animal Welfare Act to strengthen current laws against animal cruelty and empower barangays to respond more effectively to such cases.
