Senate reviewing charges against ex-Mayor Alice Guo for perjury, evasion

The Senate's Office of Legal Counsel is reviewing the filing of perjury and disobedience to summons charges against dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, as announced by Senate President Chiz Escudero on Wednesday.

Escudero said that the chamber is determining who will file the affidavit, noting that Senators Win Gatchalian and Risa Hontiveros do not have personal knowledge of the case.

According to existing laws, employees of the Senate's Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms or other chamber staff must execute the complaint affidavit.

Guo has allegedly evaded authorities by leaving the country, prompting Gatchalian to state that those who aided her escape should be held accountable.

The Bureau of Immigration disclosed that Guo is currently in Indonesia and is backtracking her movements to determine any persons involved in facilitating her travel.
