Senate prepares detention center for suspended Bamban mayor

The Senate has prepared a detention facility in its compound in Pasay City where suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and seven others will be held if they surrender.

On Saturday, July 13, the Senate's Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) detained Nancy Gamo, the former accountant of Mayor Guo, who was found at her last known address.

The detention center is a former day-care center equipped with air conditioning, double-deck beds, water dispenser, restroom, and sink, where detainees will be provided food and necessities or can bring their own.

Senate President Chiz Escudero said that the use of gadgets during detention may be allowed after reviewing current rules.

The Senate has issued arrest orders against Mayor Guo and seven others for failing to attend hearings into human trafficking, illegal detention, and physical abuse at a raided POGO hub in her town, with subpoenas scheduled for July 29.
