Senators urge aid for quake-affected Filipinos in Myanmar, Thailand

On Monday, March 31, Philippine Senators urged the government to strengthen efforts to locate and provide aid to Filipinos affected by recent earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand.

Senate President Francis G. Escudero called on Philippine Embassies in Myanmar and Thailand to account for all Filipinos and ensure that 'all possible help is extended to them.'

Senators also emphasized the need to inspect public and private infrastructure to ensure proper preparedness for large earthquakes, citing the risk posed by the West Valley Fault line.

The DFA reported four missing Filipinos in Myanmar, including a couple who lived in a collapsed building; two were professionals, while efforts continue to account for them on the ground.
