Sen Legarda hosts German media for cultural immersion

Senator Loren Legarda hosted a delegation of German media professionals for a weeklong cultural immersion across the Philippines to foster international engagement ahead of the country's role as Guest of Honour at the 2025 Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Legarda emphasized that the program aimed to showcase Philippine literature, heritage, and creative expression through visits to various festivals and cultural centers such as the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban and the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino textile gallery.

In her speech during the closing ceremony on May 20, Legarda reflected on her personal mission to bring the Philippines back to the Frankfurter Buchmesse after a 15-year absence.

Legarda highlighted her legislative efforts for cultural preservation, including the National Cultural Heritage Act and the Cultural Mapping Law, and shared the longstanding ties between the Philippines and Germany through Dr. Jose Rizal's publication of 'Noli Me Tangere' in Berlin in 1887.

She expressed hope that the stories and experiences encountered by the delegation would continue to be shared as the 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair approaches.
