Hontiveros questions Bamban mayor's citizenship during Senate hearing

Senator Risa Hontiveros raised doubts about Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's citizenship during a Senate hearing, citing Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data indicating no marriage or birth records for her supposed parents, Angelito and Amelia Leal Guo.

During the hearing, Hontiveros pointed out inconsistencies in Guo’s birth certificate and questioned why Angelito, who holds a Chinese passport, was declared as a Filipino citizen.

Guo responded that she did not prepare her birth certificate and denied lying about her father's nationality. She also clarified her net worth increase from PHP36 million to PHP150 million over six years, attributing the rise to loans for her piggery farm.

Senators have summoned Guo’s father and other personalities for a future hearing to further investigate Mayor Guo’s true identity.
