Sen Dela Rosa urges TriComm to investigate pro-admin fake news creators

Reelectionist Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa urged the House of Representatives’ Tri-Committee (TriComm) to broaden its investigation into fake news by including pro-administration social media influencers and vloggers.

Dela Rosa noted during an interview with Radyo Natin Romblon on Thursday that focusing only on Diehard Duterte Supporter (DDS) vloggers would be seen as targeting critics rather than addressing the issue of fake news fairly.

On Tuesday, TriComm issued subpoenas to several social media personalities who failed to attend a hearing despite receiving show cause orders.

The senator questioned whether the hearings are genuinely aimed at aiding legislation or used to single out pro-Duterte vloggers critical of the current administration.

TriComm also issued show cause orders to Facebook Philippines and ByteDance Philippines, the local arm of TikTok’s parent company.
