Sen Cayetano files reso for Duterte's interim ICC release

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano filed a Senate resolution urging the Philippine government to seek the interim release of former President Rodrigo Duterte from the International Criminal Court and place him under house arrest at the Philippine Embassy in the Netherlands.

Cayetano noted that despite the Philippines' withdrawal from the Rome Statute, an agreement with the ICC for Duterte’s custody is still possible.

The Palace responded by noting Cayetano's resolution without further comment, as Justice Secretary Boying Remulla had already addressed the matter previously.

Vice President Sara Duterte reported her father has lost significant weight since his arrest and is in poor physical condition.

Cayetano emphasized Duterte’s right to humane treatment, arguing that detention poses risks to his health.

Sara Duterte requested that should her father pass away while detained, his remains be cremated according to his wishes.
