SC receives letter seeking VP Sara Duterte's disbarment

On Tuesday, an anonymous letter seeking the disbarment of Vice President Sara Duterte due to her threat to exhume former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s body was filed with the Supreme Court.

The court has received another complaint regarding Duterte's statements about exhuming Marcos Sr., alongside two pending cases from when she was mayor of Davao City for punching a sheriff serving a demolition order.

Duterte previously threatened to throw Marcos’s remains into the West Philippine Sea if political attacks against her continued, as stated during an October press conference.

The Department of Justice is investigating Duterte's previous statements against the Marcos family, including allegations of a supposed kill plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Supreme Court spokesperson Camille Ting said that while the court has received the anonymous complaint, it has taken no action on it yet.

A National Bureau of Investigation subpoena was issued to Duterte on Tuesday inviting her to shed light on alleged grave threats and possible violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.
